This is so beautiful written. The reference to mono no aware is new to me but it reminded me of the Japanese concept of ma, the spaces in between. I lived in Canada for 23 years but now live on a sailboat…your sad and welcome comment almost made me fee nostalgic for that time of year I tried to escape for so long. I also wonder if, as we age, we are invited to tune into this often indescribable beauty of decay.
Its winter in Australia on the Central Coast. Love gardening. Dislike weeding! But if I don't keep on top of those subtropical weeds, they quickly run riot and we lose all control of our vegetable patch. At least the heat works well for the compost!
Wow! Such a beautiful place. Backpacked in summer from Seattle to Vancouver Island and thru to Banff when travelling east to Montreal, many many years ago. The Columbia Icefield and landscape en route was awesome !
I try, try, to take images with compositions that are still a step away. The idea is to let the viewer see the subject as I did. These images usually are in my typologies, set of photos that you see in a series. For instance, my compost piles or undergrowth photos in the forest. It's more about what the plants have done than my doing anything.

Well I live in Canada, British Columbia. It’s a rainforest here, and the greens are too bright! We can go for weeks with rain every day.

What do you mean when you say that you don’t want any real signs of a completed composition? They look very whole and complete to me.
