Your observations are deeply felt and resonant. I remember reluctantly accompanying my son on a visit to the aquarium in Camden. My son could sense my unease throughout the visit. He eventually asked, "Do they get to go to a bigger space at night?" I answered him honestly. "This is where they live." He was 7 years old and told me he never wanted to visit again. Thank you for this body of work, Jim.

Your welcome. I find it odd how my worse feelings come from the situation of the fish. But they have to cover the tanks because the fish jump out. They don’t jump out of rivers or ponds or lakes. The book I’ve been putting together is a bit more pleasant, but the issue is still there.

It’s a quietly disturbing place. Thinking about this makes me wonder, on occasstion I’m hking and there is a sign, STAY OUT, protected area. But I want to take a photos, one I hope will bring support to organizations for environmental issues….but….it says Stay Out. Am I doing good with these photos? I am currently doubtful.

I feel everything you said. Sadly. But it's better to know and share than to keep these feelings to ourselves, I think.

…. your thoughtful contemplation of the zoo situation , thanks. Your words hold just the right tone for the photos.

Thanks for your comments. The tone was hard to get to what I thought was just right, or at leat right enough. I wish we could manipulate our photos like we can language.

Nicely said. The heaviness in your words and pictures is palpable.

Thanks for your comments. I know, it’s odd, but the photo of the fish really bothers me.

This story raised that unease feeling on me after reading. So disturbing. Frightening. What a horrible place… Well seen and narrated.
